About Radial Drill Machine :
A radial drill machine is a machine tool primarily ideal for processing round holes in large and heavy workpieces. It makes our work easy in metal cutting processes and operations. Working of Radial Drill Machine :
After turning on the motor, the power transmits to the spindle and starts spinning. The radial arm alongside the drilling head can rotate, raise, or lower to adjust the drill position according to the operation type and workpiece. There is a handwheel on the right-hand side of the drill head. It helps to apply slow pressure on the workpiece. This pressure helps to extract the excess material from the workpiece and a hole starts to form inside the workpiece.
The drill table has a solid base to hold the heavy work firmly so that the drilling can be done without moving the workpiece. The difference between the pillar and radial drilling machine is that the former helps in drilling medium-sized workpieces while the latter is for large-sized and heavier workpieces. The pillar drill machine does not allow the drill head to move, while the radial arm in the radial drill machine allows the operator to move the drill head up and down as per the height of the metal component.
